Our volunteers make the greatest difference!

Thank you for your interest in Belvedere Heights Volunteer Services. Since 1965 we have built a strong legacy of volunteer commitment to the community. In 2001, 150 volunteers contributed thousands of volunteer hours making a difference to the lives over 300 seniors and other individuals who require our services.

As a volunteer you are entitled to the following list of rights:

  • To be treated as a team member receiving suitable assignment(s).
  • To know as much about the organization as possible.
  • To receive job training, orientation, and education for the job performed.
  • To have a regular evaluation of one’s volunteer performance and to receive sound guidance and direction.
  • To be given a promotion and a variety of experiences.
  • To be heard and recognized.
  • To have his/her views and ideas respected and praised

    Training
    Volunteers receive training and orientation designed for their specific volunteer assignment and responsibilities.

    Appreciation
    We value your time. We know that you have a busy schedule. Our programs are developed to meet your time availability. We have volunteer options and alternatives that can meet anyone’s busy scheduling demands.

    Respect
    Your personal satisfaction is key to your continued commitment to our residents, clients and the organization. Therefore we will endeavor to match you with a position that fits your skills, interests and time availability.

By being a volunteer, you can make a big difference in the lives of one or more of our residents in Belvedere or individuals in the Community consider the following volunteer positions:

One-on-one Activities
Group Activities
  • Shop and run errands
  • Write letters and assist in telephone use - dialing numbers
  • Escort residents to an appointment - which may include driving
  • Take residents for a ride or on an outing
  • Read the Bible, newspaper, books
  • Arrange for library services
  • Walk with resident
  • Assist with beauty care
  • Act as an interpreter for care conferences, doctors
  • Visits, activities, etc.
  • Escort residents to facility programs
  • Play card games, checkers, or other games
  • Reminisce
  • Listen to music together with a resident
  • Assist with parties and dances
  • Plan entertainment
  • Help with bingo, crafts, baking, exercises, sing-song, discussion, current events groups, Pub hours and summer camp
  • Provide music or other entertainment
  • Decorate for holidays, special occasions
  • Arrange, distribute and care for flowerS
  • Make monthly calendars and posters
  • Write monthly birthday list
  • Announce birthdays and all scheduled activities
  • Play active games
  • Photograph residents for bulletin board or
  • Newsletter
  • Organize a bazaar
  • Fund raise for special resident activities
  • Serve tea, coffee
  • Assist with Tuck Shop or nourishment cart
  • Provide positive public relations within Belvedere and the community
