Dining
The Dietary Staff provide nutritious meals, attractively
served in the comfort of our dining rooms. Meals meet the normal, or
special dietary needs of each resident in an attractive dining room
atmosphere. We offer choices at every meal, snacks three times a day
and beverages between meals. Family and friends are always welcomed
to have lunch and dinner (for a nominal fee) with the resident. We have
a consulting Dietician on contract that visits the facility on a regular
basis.
Activities!

Our programs and services department provides creative
and exciting events for the resident’s enjoyment and stimulation
from musical activities to birthday parties. The activity department
helps residents remain active and continue to live life fully. They
plan and coordinate a wide variety of activities in the building as
well as trips and outings.

Special Care
Unit
Our special care unit is a secured
area designed for persons who are diagnosed with Alzheimer Disease or
related dementia. Residents orient themselves to their surroundings
and are able to ambulate independently throughout the area. The Special
Care Unit and its staff provide safety and security with a consistent
yet flexible routine of care. Spacious enclosed grounds adjoin this
living area, allowing residents the freedom of going outdoors as they
like. Special activities both on and off the unit are planned to fulfill
the social and physical needs of the residents.
Free Resources
Alzheimer Support Group and Resource
Center –The Alzheimer Support Group meets the third Thursday of
every month at 2:00 p.m. and at 7:00 p.m. to provide information, share
concerns and discuss issues that may affect many families and caregivers
coping with the effects of Alzheimer’s Disease. All are welcome
to attend for support and information. The Resources Center offers a
variety of books, videos and current publications that Relate to Alzheimer
Disease and other forms of dementia. There is educational material And
readings to help caregivers learn of effective ways to provide care.
The Resource Center is open Monday to Friday from 9:00 a.m. to 4:00
p.m. to browse or borrow.

Belvedere has a mix of basic and
preferred accommodations available for residents. The expectations and
lifestyles of today’s seniors have changed. People expect and
deserve privacy. Each resident room will be furnished with an electric
adjustable bed, bedside table, wardrobe and a comfortable chair. Residents
will have ample space to bring along other personal furniture to make
their room look and feel like home. Resident rooms will feature large
windows with low sills, carpet flooring, special lighting, voice communication
nurse call, advanced fire protection and safety devices, and much more
to make living in Belvedere Heights comfortable, safe and secure.

Residents living in this type of
accommodation will have their own private space but will share an entrance
and washroom within the suite, These suites are best suited to individuals
or couples who need long-term care services .

The semi –private rooms provide
a higher level of privacy and each is a private room with private entrance.
Washrooms are shared between two residents.

Privacy can be assured in these
rooms with lots of space for personal items and some furniture to make
it home. Private rooms include their own entrance, a private washroom
and are spacious.

Short stay beds are available
to provide temporary relief and rest for the caregiver of an elderly
person. The service provides 24-hour personal care, accommodation,
meals and includes activities. Clients may require convalescent
care upon discharge from hospital before returning to their home
or exposure to long-term care setting to ensure a smooth future
transition from their home. |
Eligibility Requirements
All individuals seeking admission to a Long Term
Care Facility must:
Be 18 years of age or older
Be a Canadian Citizen or permanent resident
Have valid health insurance
Be unable to have their needs met in their existing
residence by community or other service providers.
Have needs that may be appropriately served by Belvedere.
Admission Procedure
All admissions are arranged through
the West Parry Sound CCAC. Anyone wishing to make application to live
at Belvedere Heights must first contact the CCAC. There, a Case Manager
will be assigned to you. They will assess care needs and advise you
of the most appropriate placement options. Application is then made
to the facilities where you might like to live, you can choose up to
three in order of preference. Once the application is reviewed by the
facilities, your name is placed on a waiting list that is maintained
by CCAC. The CCAC will notify you when a bed comes available. The wait
for a bed varies and is dependent on a number of changing factors.

As a provincially approved Long-Term
Care facility, the Ontario Ministry of Health establishes Belvedere’s
rates annually. Rates are the same for all long Term Care Facilities
in Ontario. They are based on changes in the payment entitlements of
Old Age Security (OAS), the Guaranteed Income Supplement (GIS), and
the Guaranteed Annual Income Supplement (Gains).
A resident choosing basic accommodation
who cannot afford the full monthly rate can apply for a special Ministry
Rate Reduction (note that there are no rate reductions available for
semi-private or private accommodation). Rate Reductions are processed
on admission to the facility.
